Robert McKee is NOT the amazing story-guru you need to read. Frankly, his book was the usual frustrating and confusing DRIVEL. It actually is created from the AUDIENCE'S POINT OF VIEW. This is very WRONG . . . WRONG . . . WRONG ! For your audience - although smart - simply ARE NOT PROFESSIONAL WRITERS.
I KNOW MUCH, MUCH BETTER . . . and I'm not being a smart-arse know-it-all either.
You need DEEP LITERARY THEME THEORY. Deep literary themes are special concepts that connect plot and character together. It is a string of these themes - that is what a true PLOT really is. These themes demonstrate 4 conflicts - all four create a true STORY - the best description of a given story-world. They also connect to 8 archetypal characters in THROUGHLINES - create HERO'S JOURNEY - or can be used out of chronological order - you will always have a great emotional PLOT.
Rudyard Kipling had 6 HONEST SERVING MEN - well I am proud to say that I have 64 SERVING WORDS that help one in everything, that I do . . .
My free ebook - THE SIGN OF 4 - will explain everything, that Robert McKee simply CANNOT.
