Seeking Short Films from College Students! - The AT&T Film Awards

AT&T Film Awards now accepting submissions

Aspiring filmmakers – we have a competition for you! Through November 26, 2017, eligible creators can submit their short films to the AT&T Film Awards for a chance at up to $50K in prize packages, exposure, and the opportunity to take home the AT&T Film Awards trophy.

The AT&T Film Awards, formerly the AT&T Entertainment Project, is a competition that encourages emerging filmmakers from across the country to bring their passion projects to life. Now in its 3rd Edition, the AT&T Film Awards is open to College students and recent graduates, Middle and High School students, and Mobile filmmakers.

Since 2016, we’ve awarded over $100,000 in prizes, including trips to the finals in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, mentoring opportunities with AT&T and Hollywood execs, and film screenings in front of a live audience.

So what’s in-store for the 3rd Edition of the AT&T Film Awards? Consider these categories:

The 2017 AT&T Film Awards Categories
We have four award categories available for this competition, including:

Best Short Film – College Students
We are seeking undiscovered short films, under 10 minutes in length, from the next generation of movie makers. We’re accepting shorts across all genres, from college students across the U.S. Shorts must have been completed after January 1, 2015. The winner will take home $10K, with $3K going to 2nd place, and $2K to 3rd place.

Best Spanish Language Short Film – College Student
Awarded to the best Spanish-language short film from a college student. The winner will spend the summer of 2018 studying at the USC School of Cinematic Arts in L.A., including travel, housing and a daily stipend. We are seeking original short films up to 10 minutes in length, across all genres.

Best Short Film – Youth 13-18
We are seeking short videos between 90 seconds up to 4 minutes, from Middle and High School students ages 13-18. The short videos must include one of the following themes: How Education Opens Doors, Cyberbullying, or Distracted Driving. The 1st place student will win an all-expense paid trip (with parent/guardian chaperone) to participate in a Fresh Films summer or spring break program approximately 5-8 days, and a Camera Equipment Kit* valued at $2,000. 2nd place includes a 1-day Fresh Films workshop for winner and up to 9 friends in the winner's hometown, plus a Camera Equipment Kit. The 3rd place finisher will win a Camera Equipment Kit.

*Camera Equipment Kit includes digital video camera and lens, slate and microphone for recording audio, plus SD/memory cards. Approximate retail value of kit is $2,000

Best Short Film – Mobile Tech
We are encouraging filmmakers to share their short films shot using mobile video technologies including smartphone, tablet, drone, and GoPro. 10 minutes or less, all genres. Advances in mobile video technologies have made filmmaking more accessible and affordable for up-and-coming creators.

The winner of this category will take home $10K, with $3K going to 2nd place, and $2K to 3rd place.
