Wow! This could be a great film-maker's camera. I am hoping that it fixes the whole overheating issue and bad 4K rolling-shutter distortion we've seen with the A6300 camera. Very cool stuff !!!
Looks like it is the same sensor as the 6300, just new bells and whistles.
But with 5-axis image stabilization.

Yes, very likely it's the same sensor. But the Sony press release mentions a new A6500 front-end LSI chip to maximize image quality for both still-photos and video.
"The new α6500 features an APS-C sized 24.2 MP8 Exmor CMOS sensor that works together with a BIONZ X image processor and the newly developed front-end LSI to maximize processing power"
So it's possible that this new front-end LSI solves both the 4K overheating and 4K rolling-shutter problems of the A6300.
