Sundance labs.

So I've read about every article I can find and I still haven't stumbled on one that describes the day-to-day or an in-depth application overview.

I am working on my feature screenplay now and hope to make a short first in order to better show the potential for the feature. The Sundance labs interest me greatly and so I wanted to start a discussion for people interested and for anyone who has attended.

To start the conversation, have you been? Do you know anyone who has been?

Hey Brandon,

Not to still Koo's thunder, but hopefully you've already read his post on his own experience at the Sundance Institute Screenwriting Lab from this past January. If not, check it out here:

http://nofilmschool.com/2014/02/10-takeaways-life-changing-sundance-scre...

At the end of that post, Koo adds links to posts from another 2014 fellow Nicole Riegel and an advisor Bill Wheeler that may have the particular day-to-day details you are seeking.

Also, Koo wrote a post about how he believes he was selected: http://nofilmschool.com/2013/12/how-i-got-selected-sundance-screenwriter...

While I've never been fortunate enough to be selected for the labs, I have made it to the second round multiple times. My advice on your application is to spend time on it. Definitely don't rush the process.

Hopefully, Koo and other Sundance Lab fellows will chime in with their own experiences.

Thanks for your response! I had read those, but missed the links to other fellows.

Hey Brandon,

As Chris noted, I was a Screenwriters Lab fellow in January. I see you tagged this with Directing so I'm guessing you're wondering about the Directing Lab in particular, but I wasn't in the Directing Lab. However, the Screenwriters Lab is the only one with an open application -- the Directors Lab is invite only and are generally writer/directors from the Screenwriters Lab, so I would focus on the screenplay and your personal connection to the material.

Chris already shared my articles so I hope you find those useful!
