30fps or 60fps when shooting for broadcast?

Early on, I had been told to shoot at 60fps for broadcast production. The idea was the shoot in 60, and then export at 30 for the networks. In a studio it was fine, but for the low light footage, it was annoying to have to bump my ISO so high to compensate for the higher shutter.

Is there any purpose to shooting in 60fps, or can I just shoot in 30fps and export in 30fps? What would be the benefit to 60fps over 30fps?
