B-Cam for FS700 shooting 4K RAW Atomos?

We're shooting a low budget indie feature shot mostly during the day and in the magic hour, soon with an FS700 using 4K ProRes via a Shogun and Cooke primes. Would be interested to hear people's thoughts about what type of B-Cam you would match this with if not another fs700 (in specific regards to dynamic range, matching grade, and ability to mount/adaptor to a PL) Grade would be in DaVinci and output is 4K scope. With much appreciation and many thanks - Shaun

Hi Shaun - I know its not your question - but there has not been anything released yet to suggest the new Shogun will record 4k RAW off the FS700. So far the only thing capable is the Odyssey 7Q. The camera outputs an encrypted signal that has to be decoded and debayered by the unit - which the O7Q does, but nothing has suggested the Shogun will have this processing power, which personally I will be very disappointed if it doesn't!!

A few I'll suggest you may want to investigate: Sony A7s / Panasonic GH4 / BMCC MFT / BMPCC / BMPC4K.

Unfortunately there is not really too much out there which can also do 4K raw at a cheap price so as to be a B cam to the FS700 doing 4K raw (there is the BMPC4K, but it does poorly in low light when compared to the FS700). So you need to consider compressed 4K (GH4, or the A7s. Though the Sony A7s gets pricey as it needs the Atomos external recorder, it doesn't do internal 4K like the GH4) or a BMCC MFT / BMPCC which are lower resolution but do raw too with a good dynamic range.

I'd just rent another FS700, and use the Odyssey7Q instead of the Shogun. They haven't shipped yet, and it's never good to be the first one to find out what doesn't work.
