'Color correction for video' by Hullfish & Fowler is a great book.
Yes, a book :-p
It goes through all the basics, so you learn to understand what is going on. That way you can grade in any software, because you know the basics in stead of the trick.

Helps if you think before to shoot what colors do you want, and put a color panel front of camera.
