What's the best external hard drive for data management of a 5 min short film? Recording in 1080p 24 fps.
What camera and format are you shooting with ?
Even shooting RAW, it doesn't sound like your files are going to be that big.
Normally I try to bring enough memory cards to shoot for at least half a day, so that the footage can be dumped to external SSD drives attached to a laptop when you take a shooting break. ( SSD drives are pretty shock-proof, so moving them around with you as you shoot is safer than the traditional spinning-disk hard drives ) If you are paranoid, you could bring a mini SSD mirrored drive or even a mini RAID 5 to dump your footage to.

What kind of comp are you using? Mac or Windows? If Mac, just grap a 1 TB drive with a thunderbolt connection: http://www.g-technology.com/products/g-drive-ev-1-tb-removeable-raid-har.... You could even use Amazon Cloud to backup your files (unlimited storage for three months).
