I was thinking of getting a external monitor for my t5i. Does anyone have a suggestion on a good quality and good one. ..Thanks
I own three 7 inch monitors that I am very happy with...
Feelworld FW759 7'' Slim HD IPS 1280x800 Monitor : $123 UShttp://goo.gl/YrJatN
This is a 6-bit monitor so you may see some "banding" when displaying subjects with a long tonal range, but otherwise it's a great super low cost monitor that is very sharp and easy to focus with. When tuned the color isn't too bad either. ( much better than my old and very crappy Lilliput monitors )
MustHD M701H 7 Inch 1280x800 IPS HD Monitor : $375 UShttp://goo.gl/EzsyXj
This is an 8-bit monitor so no "banding" when displaying subjects with a long tonal range, it's a fairly low cost monitor that is also very sharp and easy to focus with, and it produces a very high quality color image. It's a little bit "chunky", but it works really well for just about anything. ( it's also a "pass through" monitor so you can connect another HDMI device to it )
Marshall V-LCD70MD 7 Inch Monitor with Modular SDI Upgrade Option : $799 UShttp://goo.gl/nMh2y8
This is an 8-bit monitor so no "banding" when displaying subjects with a long tonal range, it's an expensive monitor that is sharp and easy to focus with, and it produces a very high quality color image. This is an industry standard monitor, so it's built really well and works really well. It offers wave-form IRE display and very good audio meters on the screen. It can also be upgraded to an SDI monitor for higher-end cameras that need SDI inputs. It's also a "pass through" monitor so you can connect another HDMI device to it. This is my favorite monitor, but I'm not keen on taking it places where it might get a little beat up, so I have the MustHD and the FeelWorld monitors to use instead.

I think that the black magic video assist is a good monitor 1920x1080 and a recorder on cheap SD cards in ProRes 10bit 422. Very good price!
