How is the dynamic range on a gh4 differ from a canon dslr like the t3i?
For still photos the GH4 has about 1 more f-stop of dynamic range than the Canon 3ti.
For video the GH4 has up to 2 more f-stops of dynamic range depending on the camera settings.
In June Panasonic will be revealing a V-log upgrade that will add another 1 - 2 f-stops to the dynamic range. ( this might be a paid upgrade )

The dynamic range (DR) of the Panasonic GH4 is about 10 stops (±0.5 stops) in the normal picture profiles and if you shoot in JPEG.
If you shoot with V-Log or if you take a photo with RAW you will get an image of about 12 stops (±0.5 stops, depending of your ISO).
This makes especially the upgrade for V-Log very interesting.
Most of the Canon DSLRs (you would use to shoot video) have about 9-10 stops of DR with any picture profile and about 12 stops in RAW.
