How can 1080p look so good in a theater?
Excuse the simplistic title but I found out recently that many feature films are distributed in 1080p resolution, for example, I found out that Whiplash (2014) was distributed in this format yet it looked just fine in the theater, I was even further shocked to discover that it wasn't even captured originally in ArriRaw! Another example was Avatar (2009) which I watched in IMAX, despite it being filmed on the Sony CineAlta Cameras which shoot in 1080p, the image which I saw on the IMAX screen was flawless! So are our eyes just not smart enough to tell the difference between 1080p and 4K etc. then?
