How Do You Cast Famous Actors in Films?

Hi, not sure if anyone has here but if you have, how do you cast famous actors in you films? How would you do it if you are new to the biz and have no solicited content? What would you do if you were unsolicited? Who do you contact? etc.

Get a casting director #1. You don't 'hire' actors directly, as unless your really well known, their agents will not deal directly with you. Casting directors cast your films, and are the first line in getting name actors. Oh, and you'll need a lot of money.

To add to that, if they are a name actor then they're going to be in SAG-AFTRA which is the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. These are labor unions. This means that you will have to pay them their union minimum wage, which last time I knew of, was $100/day for low budget projects. It's probably a little more now.

You will also need to fill out paperwork with SAG-AFTRA to be able to hire them for your shoot. Info here:

Without a casting director or foot in the door its going to take serious money or drive to get a name in your film. However start asking around if anyone even moderately famous is related or a good friend of someone you know. Even a name with some good credits would up the value of the production. Also with a small time name a buyer could look at it as an early talent that no one has banked on yet.
