The only thing I ever see people say is to get out there and work. Do everything you can to gain experience and meet people as you gain it. Make movies on your own and show them to everyone who will watch. Ask if you can shadow people. It's all about who you know and what you've done. Also people say you need to show experience with cameras like the Red EPIC.

YouTube is alright, but it's kind-of saturated, and people on it are more interested than content than the quality it was produced with (look at all the top YouTubers, they started with some wretched equipment).

You are 20, that's still young so don't worry. Just contact every production companies you can find in your area and show them your work, tell them how you like their work, ask them to come and see them, to work with them and if they don't need you as worker, offer to make an internship with them. They are always happy to have free workers and it will allow you to show how good you are to future employers, you will also learn the rules and expectation of the big studio/companies/broadcasters.
This is how i did, I just called every production compagnies and after hundreds of emails and phones calls, it eventually paid.

Youtube has too much "crap" on it.
1 year ago I was contacted by a big production company for a large budget commercial shoot because of a video I had on Vimeo that I shot on my spare time with a friend. So yeah, that's that - seems like Vimeo is the way to go and they know that, because they make you pay for it.
