If you hunt, what reasons do you hunt for?
I can only speak for myself, but I suspect that the motivation for hunting is always more that ‘one thing’.
I like everything about hunting.
I hunt alone, which is part of the appeal for me. I hunt with a bow, a skill in which I have invested considerable time. I like the strategic aspects of ambush hunting, the required knowledge of the terrain, the animal and its behavior, the discipline of concealment, the required patience and attention to detail.
I like making the kill. I like the butchering, the cooking and the eating. I even like making leather from the hide.
What I am not into is antlers. I could really care less about those, but I have no reason to criticize people who find them motivating.
I also ignore animals that don’t taste good.
