Just Starting Out

What I want to do is a set of shorts about my self coming out trans dealing with health etc I have a Kodak Zi8 that I can use as well as Sony Movie Maker for editing I've never done some thing like this should I script it?

If it's not being produced as narrative fiction then I wouldn't script it (it could come off really badly if the script or the performance aren't good), but I would block out in detail all of the topics that you want to cover in your short films.

If you can, find another series of short films to use as a model for your project, it will help to illustrate all of the creative and technical issues that you will need to handle in order to produce your project.

Go for it, experiment with it - there's no real right or wrong way you can do it - You could easily find help to film this project at your level (just starting out) as there are hundreds of people in the same situation wondering the same thing, quite simply how - you could easily advertise on some websites like mandy.com (there are a hole host of websites out there) and there will be people willing to work for free with you to explore the subject, the story involved and how you guys begin on your path.
Or, much like Guy McLoughlin said above, don't script it and just have a practice of what you'd possibly want to do then just go for it.
Unfortunately with this type of industry and area (film making) there's no real right or wrong way to do things, just experiment and find your rhythm :)
