Need help making a music video!

Hello everyone,

I have a few questions. So I'm trying to create a music video for some of the songs I have produced but I do not know much about video editing. I have a cousin who's an award-winning director and I could ask him but I know he's always busy. Plus, I love learning!

So he's what I have:
I have a Canon t3i, a camera stand, a cheap stabilizer that I have created with a 12 inch pvc pipe, 3 batteries, 3 memory cards, a 50mm 1.8 lens and Adobe Premiere Pro.

What I need help with:
Advice on what settings to shoot with since I want to shoot in full hd.
What features are most useful on Adobe Premiere Pro?
Are there any good tutorial online that I can watch or any good books I can read?
Do I need any other lens that could help me shoot better footage?

I'm very hands on, that's why I'm asking for advice and not asking my cousin. Any advice would be highly appreciated!!!

Thank you in advice,

Axe

I would like to know the best settings to shoot high definition footage.

Are they any good sample story boards online?

Thanks for your advice!

Just go through the camera menues and find the 1080p one.

If you don't do a storyboard, considering atleast doing a shootlist.

first, look at some music video in the same style as an example.
then try to use the same type of angle , shoot as much details you can
so you have something to play with during editing.

Shoot Flat, Canon t3i usually shoots with strong colours so that won't let you have the control you want to have while you edit colours.

For some of your questions there is great site called google.
And why not ask your cousin for advice?

Besides these smartass remarks, I'd say: go play around and test annd try :-)
That's a great learner as well.

You're right. I would ask him if he wasn't so busy. He did just win an Emmy last week. I had figured to ask people who wouldn't

This has less to do with the technical aspects you're asking about but something to keep in mind: if the performer is going to be singing in the video have them actually sing the way they normally do while shooting. You obviously wouldn't use that audio but if you just have them silently lip sync it will look odd and fake since certain muscles in the face and neck wouldn't be moving they way they do when someone actually sings.
