Screenplays

So far I have read pages from professional screenplays that use the word, "We" in the action description. For example, "We follow Alice from behind as she walks down the road."
Why is this considered acceptable when fellow screenwriters such as myself are told that this is considered amateurish?

It can be used to communicate that the audience is seeing something the character is not seeing. Out of curiosity, who told you it was amateurish? I think it's also a personal preference because some writers use it frequently, some use it occasionally and others do not use it at all.

I am with Gareth. Forget "amateur" things or "professional" things. You use the things you have... :D ;D
