Stabilizers vs Gimbals

I do event photography and I'm looking at getting into video. I'm shooting with the 5DIII and I'm planning on getting a Ronin S once the funds allow. I'm wondering if it's worth getting a cheap $100 stabilizer (Neewer) to tie me over until I can get the gimbal or are cheap stabilizers even worth it?

I would say to shoot with a monopod first to get the feel of video and the movement. You can't get monopods for really cheap and as long as you're not whipping around, you can get really steady shots. I have even added a counter weight to my monopod and used it as a stabilizer. Also there's shoulder rigs. I love using shoulder rigs so maybe look into that too.

id say check out proaim.ca

they have a used section... i get a lot of my gear from the used section.. the products i was told are not actually used but showpieces kept in the stores to showcase to customers which acquire scratches and stuff .
