Where is the best place to sell a camera?

Where is the best place to sell a camera? Considering its a popular "In demand Camera". Craiglist, ebay, etc...Is it worth selling to dealers like B&H, KEH, Adorama ?

I always try and sell local first ( I live in a big city ), and then I use eBay if I can't sell it locally.

eBay is great as long as you ONLY use PayPal for payment, so you are protected against being ripped off. ( DO NOT accept any other form of payment when selling on eBay )

I am with Guy McLoughlin. If you sell in ebay, use only paypal. You will be protected.

Selling on Craigslist "pays" more than the brick-and-mortar shops in my experience.

Good luck!

Is it me or does selling a $4-5,000 Camera on craiglist sound a little sketchy? I feel like selling an expensive piece of gear through that site might attract some potential douchebags...I don't want to get robbed or anything...

I've seen $6,000 Sachtler tripods listed on Craig's List, though I don't know if they ever sell.

I've sold lots of items on Craig's List ( including a $3,000 camera ), but I always meet in a public place with people around and security cameras if possible. I also don't take checks or money-orders, only cash. ( I am happy to go visit the bank with the person if they are nervous about bringing cash with them )

Never sell to Adorama. I used to work there. They are cheating you. Only sell there is you habe to sell immediately and you don't mind getting 20-50% of the value of your equipment on the open market. They say they give 70% of the value, but that is an all out lie. You will only get that from them if it is a very popular and hard to find item, and you are a good and patient negotiator. If you need to sell quickly, look on EBay for the going rate of the item and knock 10-15% off.
