Why doesn't No Film School do film reviews?

All of the articles I read on here are so well written, I would love to hear the opinions of No Film School writers about new movies. Why not publish some film criticism pieces? Is it because you want the site to stay informational rather than opinionated? Just wondering.
(I would totally read reviews on here, should they become a part of the site's repertoire.)

Hey Olivia,

First off thanks, it's really nice to hear that our opinions would hold some value in the world. You've sort of hit the nail right on the had, however.

It's always been the policy of NFS that we don't have the right to judge any experience a filmmaker may have gone through to tell the story they needed to tell. Making a feature (or any kind of film) is a feat that should always be commended and who are we to judge the challenges that those involved may have faced?

We're more interested in hearing about what that filmmaker went through as a part of their experience and relaying it to you guys in a way that hopefully allows you to leave with some educational takeaways. We're talkin' nuggets that will help you avoid any mistakes they may have made when it comes time to make your own projects.

For me, learning to watch movies in this way has made the entire filmgoing experience way more valuable and enjoyable.

Hope that clears things up!
