Just a couple of hours ago, DJI introduced the world to its brand new drone, the Mavic Mini, which was specifically designed to be as compact, lightweight, and easy to use as possible so hobbyists and pros alike can use it as their "everyday FlyCam."

The Mavic Mini is certainly in a different class than DJI's professional-level drones, but that doesn't mean that this little thing doesn't have some impressive features. In fact, considering that the most popular drone company built a drone particularly to be an "everyday" aerial shooter is not only exciting but it also kind of creates a unique class for the Mini to occupy—which is a similar one to that of the DJI Spark, which, as we all know, wasn't as successful as we'd all hoped.
It's not necessarily your aerial A-camera... more like your aerial B-camera.
Let's quickly go over some of the Mavic Mini's most impressive features.
2.7K Gimbal-Stabilized Video
Built with the same image sensor as the Mavic Air and Mavic Pro, the Mavic Mini shoots 12MP aerial photos and 2.7K Quad HD videos.
Not only that, but it also is outfitted with a 3-axis motorized gimbal, so those shots are going to be smooth and clear.
DJI did pull the video resolution back for this model. The Mavic Air, Mavic Pro, and Mavic 2 Pro all capture 4K.
The truth is, 2.7K is really not too shabby, especially because you're capturing 25/30 fps.
If you want to shoot something with a little slow-mo flavor on it, the Mavic Mini shoots full HD at up to 60 fps.
Longer Flight Time
One of the key features of the Mavic Pro is its size. This thing is tiny... literally almost as light as a smartphone and it fits in the palm of your hand. There's an added advantage to it having such a small form factor: longer flight time.
The Mavic Mini can stay in the air for up to 30 minutes on a fully-charged battery.
QuickShot Modes
For those who haven't mastered the art of capturing orbital shots and other sweet aerial moves, Mavic Mini features four QuickShot modes that will automatically execute the camera move you want with just a push of a button. The four modes include Dronie, Circle, Helix, and Rocket.

Pre-orders for the DJI Mavic Mini will begin today, October 30th—that includes two purchasing options:
- The Standard Version: Mavic Mini, remote controller, one battery, and extra propellers
- Mavic Mini Fly More Combo: all Standard Version components, 360-degree Propeller Cage, Two-Way charging Hub, three batteries, three sets of extra propellers, and a carrying case
The Standard Version retails for $399 and the Fly More Combo retails for $499.
