When you see it, you're gonna wish it was real. I mean, if you saw it out of context, you'd probably think it was.

It's not.

It's probably never going to be.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is not getting a modern reboot, let alone one that abandons the popular 90s sitcom feel for a grittier, more dramatic tone, but filmmaker Morgan Cooper's fan-made trailer for Bel-Air, a fake show...or film...or whatever it's never going to be, shows us all what it would be like if it was.

Will Smith, the Fresh Prince himself, saidthat he would totally make a reboot of the show...when Hell freezes over

Fine, so Will's out.

But everyone else is in...and when I say everyone I mean the fans. And this isn't some kind of nostalgia trip, either. I think a lot of us can echo, or at least appreciate, Cooper's personal experience not only as a young fan of the show but as a fan of the show who grew up to become a filmmaker. Okayplayer spoke with the director in-depth about the trailer:

I felt like, growing up, I always thought there was more to the story, more behind the sitcom format. I thought, "Wow, we could take this story and really ground it in reality...in a really dramatic way."

Now that Cooper's fan-made trailer has gone viral, even grabbing the attention of celebrities like Alyssa Milano (sources say Will Smith has also seen it), I think we can all agree that even if those close to the original show don't want to see a modern retelling of the Fresh Prince's story, fans most definitely do.

How badly do you wish this trailer was for a real Fresh Prince reboot? Let us know down in the comments.
