After the recent decision by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to not feature the presentation of the Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Live Action Short, and Best Hair & Makeup awards on the upcoming telecast of the 91st annual Academy Awards, many filmmakers and industry players have taken to social media to voice their disapproval.

One, in particular, that has caught our eye is from director Alfonso Cuarón, whose Roma is nominated for 10 Academy Awards and, yes, is the frontrunner to win the Best Cinematography Oscar on Sunday, February 24th. Cuarón went on Twitter this morning to tweet out the following announcement (featured below).

It does seem extremely off-putting that below-the-line talent who's achievements literally make up much of the moviemaking process is being placed during the commercial breaks for no one to see. Isn't the evening supposed to be celebrating all aspects of storytelling? Did they choose those four awards out of a hat to ultimately not feature on the telecast?

Only time will tell how (or if) the Academy will rectify this situation given the immense public outcry. The Academy has already announced that they will be airing those four award presentations live on Oscar.com, just not on the official broadcast. Is that good enough?
