Portkeys manufacturers an extensive line of on-camera monitors that include HDMI and SDI options in 5" or 7" models. Its BM5 is popular among Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera shooters because it delivers a bright 2200-nit touchscreen in a compact form factor that carries a lot of advanced features, such as waveform, zebra, grids, audio meters, image flip, false colors, and a ton more. The company has released a new version in its LH5 series, the LH5H.
The LH5H is a 5.2" monitor that has a brightness of 1700 nits with a clean 4K HDMI input and output. Like other Portkey models, it is a touchscreen monitor made from ABS plastic and tempered glass to reduce scratches and scruff. It has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and is packed with many of the advanced features shooters look to in the field. Among them is support for 3D LUTs, waveform, zebra, peaking, zooming, display flip, and color temperate.
With different camera control ports, the LH5H can control a variety of camera models, including Sony, Blackmagic Design, Panasonic, Canon, and Z CAM. All you need to do is purchase the camera control cable for your specific camera. Additionally, wireless camera control is also supported for shooters using the BMPCC 4K or 6K—which is built directly inside the LH5H. Accessories like the Tilta Nucleus-M/N are also supported.
To display its color, the Portkeys LH5H is calibrated using an X-Rite i1 Display Pro colorimeter. If any issues arise, you can easily re-calibrate the monitor yourself when needed.
