As the holiday season creeps towards us, there's going to be a ton of deals headed our way. Only two weeks ago, Sony dropped a massive sale on cameras and lenses.

Today, that trend continues, as they've added the full-frame 24MP a7 III to the mix by lowering the price to $300 for the body only.

Need a lens? Sony has made the a7 III and FE 28-70mm kit lens $300 cheaper too.

Key Features

  • 24.2MP Back-Illuminated 35mm Full-frame Image Sensor
  • 15-stop dynamic range, 14-bit uncompressed RAW, ISO 50-204,800
  • Up to 10fps Silent or Mechanical Shutter with AE/AF tracking
  • 693 phase-detection/425 contrast AF points with 93% image coverage
  • Eye-AF with AF-C; Direct AF point 4-way multi-selector; touch AF
  • 4K HDR3 Movie with full pixel readout, no pixel binning or crop
  • 5-axis in-body image stabilization, 5-step shutter speed advantage

The Sony a7 III may not have the newest sensor among the Alpha cameras (that goes to a7S III), but it's no slouch when it comes to video capabilities.

The IBIS is rock solid, the autofocus in low light is fantastic, and the usable dynamic range (around 11-13 stops) shooting S-Log is going to allow you to push your image in post. The a7 III was so successful when it was introduced, it could have been one of the reasons it took so long to launch the a7S III. It's kinda crazy to think the a7 III came out in 2018, and it's still only a few steps behind the a7S III in terms of performance.

But what do you think? Is it silly to pick up an a7 III now when the a7S III is available, albeit double the price?
