Camera movement has the power to turn an otherwise boring shot into a dynamic piece of cinema, giving not only your project a high production value but also giving something interesting for your audience to look at.

There are many ways to infuse these techniques into your films, but many times it takes a sizable crew to do so, especially when it comes to the more complicated camera moves. Whether you're a one-man-band needing an extra hand on set or just in need of a device that can perform complex and accurate camera movements reliably, the Syrp II 3-axis Epic Kit has you covered.

3-Axis Movement

Perhaps the area in which the Syrp Genie II Epic Kit shines the most is its ability to pull off complex camera moves without taking up a lot of space. The Magic Carpet slider, the Genie II Linear, and Pan Tilt motion controllers may have a small form factor but they are capable of performing a wide array of camera motion with the accuracy and smoothness we've come to expect from Syrp.

Not only can you perform pans, tilts, and linear movements, use the integrated counterbalance system in the slider to lift heavier camera setups vertically. With the Genie II Linear, you can achieve smooth upward and downward motion-controlled moves.

No-Hassle Setup

One of the biggest headaches when working with camera gear is having to get it up and running in time to get the shots you need. The Genie II Linear and Pan Tilt were designed to be as portable and hassle-free as possible, allowing you to sync them via Bluetooth. Also, managing power is a no-brainer since the same removable long-life battery is used on both the Linear and Pan Tilt.

As far as the physical design goes, the Genie II Epic Kit has a quick-release system that makes setting up is as easy as clicking the Linear into the Magic Carpet slider, and then clicking the Pan Tilt in right on top. Furthermore, the Magic Carpet slider comes with "tool-less" quick release legs that are fully adjustable, simple to remove and allow you to level more precisely on rough terrain.

The Syrp Genie 2 App

Syrp has also tried to make programing camera moves as simple and convenient as possible with the Genie 2. Wirelessly connecting your Syrp Genie II 3-Axis Epic Kit with the Syrp Genie 2 App allows you to use the built-in keyframe editor to adjust the speed, timing, and positioning of each axes independently. That means you can perform complex, accurate, and silky smooth camera moves right from your smartphone.

Syrp will be adding new features to the Genie II owners free of charge, so be sure to check out the latest updates that are pending release here.

Wrapping Up

The Syrp Genie II 3-Axis Epic Kit is a robust yet compact motion control system that gives you the power to capture a wide range of accurate and buttery smooth camera moves remotely. Those types of attributes tend to stick in your mind when you're working with a skeleton crew with only one person to operate a camera.

This kit can not only capture stunning time-lapses, but it can be that extra camera op for when you want some b-roll or when you need to get a different angle during an interview. It can save you a lot of time and heartbreak later, especially when certain cinematic moments are fleeting.

The Syrp Genie II 3-Axis Epic Kit, which includes the Genie II Linear, Pan Tilt, and Magic Carpet Slider retails for $2,827 and is available now. Head on over to Syrp's website to learn more.
