High Schoolers! This New Online Workshop Gives You One-on-One Time with Tisch Instructors
Are you in high school and dreaming of going to film school? Well, now you can get a taste of Tisch, complete with face time with professors and classmates, completely online.
It's that time of year when high school students are tasked with the great responsibility of choosing a school to go to after graduation. If that's you and you're looking at film schools, you're probably well aware of (and drooling over) NYU Tisch School of the Arts, one of the best film schools in the world.
Well, now you have the rare opportunity of experiencing the best of what Kanbar Institute of Film and Television degree program has to offer through the Tisch High School Filmmakers Workshop, which offers first-class instruction from Tisch professors in film and television. The best part? It's completely online.
Powered by Smashcut, a new online learning platform built specifically for film education, Tisch is giving high school students the chance to work and collaborate with peers and instructors online through live "office hour" video chats, as well as upload projects, offer time-based comments and feedback, watch instructional videos, and navigate class syllabi.
Students will develop skills in writing, directing, shooting, and editing to eventually produce a number of short films, including a crew-based documentary and music video, 3 technical assignments, and a final narrative film that they will write and direct themselves.

At $6,680, tuition for the workshop is definitely an investment. However, if you're a high schooler who is interested in attending Tisch but isn't 100% sold on the idea, then maybe this is a good way to dip your toe in a little to figure out if you're willing to fork over hundreds of thousands of dollars to get your undergrad degree.
The Tisch High School Filmmakers Workshop is open to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The Spring 2020 workshop runs from March 2nd to April 10th, while the summer session runs from July 6th to July 31st.
The online application fee is $75. Here are the deadlines to apply to each session.
