Very important to mention here, that the new requirement for Cuda 11 makes it impossible to use DR on a lot of laptops, that are perfectly fine for video editing - if developers would just make CUDA features optional with more powerful cards... this is very disappointing and will force buying new hardware... very unfriendly.
They already did this brutal step with 16.2.7 - it introduced hardware compatibility breakage for version 16 - with a minor release! That would be an absolute no go with any pro software - hardware and budget planning gets screwed with this - oh, we need new hardware for this minor version upgrade - wtf?
Please note: it would be relatively easy for every developer to make code paths that use more powerful GPUs optional and keep backwards compatibility - this is simply a slap in the users face or indicates some serious development problems with BMD - also seeing Resolve getting more and more crashy with every release makes it look like the Resolve Tower of Babel is getting too complicated for the team - the forward run to CUDA 11 without backwards compatibility options seems to be an act of desperation. It seems like developers are loosing control over that monster code base... BMD needs to put more effort into stabilizing code.
If you are into a real project with real money - be very careful with this!
