Article Comment – New Amimon Connex Promises Latency-Free 1080p Wireless Video Up to 3,300 Feet

Well, my DSLR costs more than an Amimon. But you've got a point: if you had a budget of $2500, are you better off spending that on a camera, or on a transmitter plus $500 DSLR? Would the camera option always get you the better results?

Really valuable advice. Thanks Charlie!

Wondering if anyone could give me advice.

I've got a fairly specific setup in mind -- would love to be able to mount a wireless HDMI video transmitter on a DSLR on a Steadicam Merlin.

So, say you want to used an Amimon Connex with this setup. What are your options in terms of powering the transmitter? I mean, do you need an external battery (which might make steadicam balance tricky), or is there a way to draw power from the camera? Do many cameras have DC output jacks anyway (or, if they don't, is there any way to adapt them so that they do?)

Article Comment – From Cinematography to VFX, the BAFTA Film Craft Sessions Will Learn You Some Things

Re the cinematography one: it's possible there was a bit of noise removal applied (to get rid of an air conditioner or something like that). Something strange going on with the audio in places.

Article Comment – Insane Price Drops on Canon Cinema Cameras Including the C300 & C100

I think of it this way: I've never shot for broadcast, but I'd like to, and I don't know if there's a more convenient way to get a seat at that table than dropping $4000-$5500 on a used C300. Maybe there's cheaper ways to meet minimum specs (bearing in mind also that not every broadcaster is as stringent as the BBC), but surely the C300 "just works" -- HD-SDI, genlock, internal recording.

One thing to consider: if it's $6,500 brand new, maybe in a few months they're going to start showing up on eBay at $4000 or less.
