Alejandro
Filmmaker
Hello world!
My name is Alejandro Mercé. I'm a spanish filmmaker who's been moving around the world looking for his place. I've lived in Barcelona and studied graphic design, then I moved to London for about three years. After London I went back to Barcelona and studied film making. During my studies I've met Andros Barroso, a cuban filmmaker who taught me a lot about about film making and I will always be thankful to him for all the experience I had.
After I've finished my studies I've met what would be my future wife and decided to move to Málaga. During my time in Málaga I did a few music videos and live events for V3CTORS, a metal band who really ROCKS! I also worked with Eventual music a rock club, recording some shows and events.
After four years in Málaga I went back to London... I tried the BIG city again. I've met incredible people in London, like James Bland from Blink productions who introduced my to the editing world in London. Nowadays I'm moving between different countries working as a freelance filmmaker.
Great footage and reel!
I've been shooting with my 550D (if I'm not mistaken it's the european version of the t2i) for the last 4 years and I'm deeply in love with it. A few times I thought about moving to something like BM or something a bit more "pro" but I've always decided to spend my money on other equipment than a new body.
My thoughts about this is: as long as it keeps working I'm going to keep it. Now that I know how to push it to the limit with ML, and technicolor cinestyle profile. Now that I have tons of batteries, "nice" lenses, battery grip and shits loads of other accesories, there's no way I'm going to start again from cero with another camera.
I've even thought about buying an extra 550d/t2i body.
And after 4 years my only complain is that it gets to hot when I'm shooting for a long time and it shuts down.
Yes, I could have more colour depth or I could shoot in RAW and this would allow me a better colour correction but on the other hand this "flaw" pushed my to learn other ways arround to boost my films.
So what I'm trying to say is.... 550d/t2i YES BABY!!!!
It has nothing to do with the discussion here, but the picture of the phone on top of the article it's from Montserrat monastery, next to Barcelona.
Sorry, I'm from Barcelona but haven't lived there in 7 years. Sometimes I get a bit nostalgic!
Hey!!
Totally agree! I've always suffered from it and still do, I usually have around 20 items in my wish list! (lenses, camera bodies, sliders, filters, memory cards and a PROPER PC... Last video took 16 hours to export!!!!)
But thanks god (or not) I have a very (very) small budget. I've been shooting with my 550d for the last 5 years and I'm satisfied with it.
Yes, I could buy a better camera and better lenses (I use the cheapest ones) but... I cannot afford them and that doesn't make me feel sorry for myself.
Are these disadvantages? Maybe
Could my films had a better look? Of course!
Are they bad because of this? I don't think so!
I'm just praying for my camera to hold up an extra couple of years!! And at the end my customers are satisfied with my work!
yes... video removed... I've missed this one! shame on me!
The se7en cinematography is a great example of practical lighting and a great lesson on how to apply it; outstanding job by Darius Khondji!
