Got this FF recently...on slow pulls in free run mode there is stepping (creeping/slow adjustments). On long focal lengths the stepping is quite apparent - usually the only place where it is an issue for me. The focus memories are very smooth when set to slow speeds - however only applicable to shoots with set marks for talent that do not deviate as you have to press the memory button another time to get out of memory mode to make adjustments (this snaps the focus back to it's starting point unfortunately). Better than a Bartech or Red Rock for the price..by far. For most applications this unit works quite well and has a solid build. It drives cineprimes nicely (even the stickier ones - a good example is the anamorphic focus module by Anamorphic Shop..hulking thing). Great value and useful for indie shoots...wouldn't take this thing on a high budget commercial, show or feature though..that's for sure.
Anyone know if this can output a desqueezed anamorphic image to another monitor? Currently have the Shogun..had an anamorphic shoot recently and we could not send a desqueezed image to village..hopefully a firmware update to allow this soon?
I'm about to get one of these in the mail...a buddy has the cinegears system. Hoping to do a comparison video! It looks like a few elements in the design are slightly different (some cosmetic differences on the motor, the gears don't look quite as new/shiny). Hopefully I can update you guys soon!
