Article Comment – Insane Christmas Movies: They're Non-Union and Lazy, So Why Do We Love Them?

Be careful with how you convey YOUR agenda. It sure does come across as “Union productions, good - non-union productions, bad!” Unsafe productions are unsafe not because of union status but because of poor leadership. Low pay can be a problem but isn’t on every non-union show. Hallmark movies ARE a problem - not all non-union shows operate the way Hallmark operates.

Article Comment – APPLE Targets RED over Raw Patent Dispute

Do your homework. This is nothing more than SOP. Sensational journalism. BS and useless to filmmakers.

Article Comment – Which RED Cinema Camera is Right for You?

Monstro IS A SENSOR. Helium IS A SEPARATE SENSOR. I will admit Red hasn't made it easy in the past but this is as easy as it has ever been to understand the Red camera and sensor lineup.

This article is full of misinformation. It doesn't do what it promises to do in the title. It's too bad this article sucks, I was really curious what writers on this site thought about why filmmakers should choose certain Red cameras.

This article is bad.

Boards Comment – Film Festival Laurel on Movie Poster

If the poster is to promote a screening, I think you should use it. Otherwise, it would do good to give it a second thought.

Article Comment – 10 Things to Know Before Shooting Your Microbudget, Part 1: Budgeting and Pre-Pro

Yeah, I get it, Julian. I don't think you are wrong, at all. But I don't think I am wrong either. And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this site, I have been visiting it since I bought my first camera, a DSLR. When it was just Ryan Koo doing his thing, trying to make a career and helping all of us out at the same time. Nothing wrong with that. However, it's a business and that has taken priority. I stand by my original post - often they use headlines that don't deliver on the promise they make. These are pros here on this site and they know how to write headlines and articles to encourage clicks, that's all. I don't believe they are bad people, I just believe that the reader is no longer the true intended beneficiary of the content produced by this site. My original post was sincerely meant as constructive criticism, not negativity. I thrive on criticism in my life and career, you gotta learn how to take it, ya know? Re-read my comment, it ain't all that bad:) Anyone who has been reading this site since it's inception, and has been paying attention, probably understands my perspective. I used to visit this site everyday, now, its only once or twice a month or even more spread out. It truly is not what it used to be.

Julian I appreciate your perspective, thanks for sharing. I'm glad that at the very least my comment started a little love fest for Liz, a sweeter person I could not imagine. Great getting to know her through the podcast.

Cheers!

Article Comment – Watch: Why DP Rachel Morrison Deserves the Oscar for 'Mudbound'

I'm not a hater, Rachel Morrison is clearly a talented DoP. However, I challenge anyone to watch that montage with the sound off, focus on the imagery, then tell me how outstanding her work is. I still don't see a reason why she should win the Oscar. A lot of talented DoP's out there, but to win an Oscar should require truly special work. I don't get it. But, I'd put lot's of money on her winning. Is what it is.
