Boards Comment – Practice without Actors?

Try rehearsing with your crew or friends before keeping it in front of the actors. It works wonders during actual shoot. A test shoot is always advisable at the locations during recci or once the locations are finalised :). Good luck

Boards Comment – What define a strong editor?

A good editor should be able to suggest some options for presentation of the footages that director and DOP has worked on. The word options is very important because a director would already have something or the other in his/mind. These days directors know editing themselves. An editor should treat the footages like his baby and should be rational about cutting the footages long or short.

Article Comment – How the Color in 'Sicario' Reveals the Battle Between Good & Evil

Wow! Even the makers of this film would have not thought of planting those details in the film like they are over analysed in this video. You can surely show videos like this to film making classes in the first few session.
Sicario is undoubtedly a masterpiece. But it's just the right amount of spices that fell on the right places although I wish the writer and the director gave it a more intelligent ending to make it a complete film.
Since the film feels incomplete in the end, all other great things about the film (including the beautiful background score and Emily's brilliant performance) go unnoticed.

Article Comment – Oscar-Worthy Cinematography: A Look at the 2016 Academy Award-Nominated Films

I loved The Revenant and I agree there is a super tough fight this year. But I am wondering if anybody noticed The Walk was very beautiful work too.
