Boards Comment – $5K budget. Need gear advice

Hi Anthony, my suggestions:

Camera - Panasonic GH4
1. Lenses are cheaper and lighter than what you're planning for BMCC.

2/4 - Look for the Rode Filmmaker Wireless System, which should be out in mid April - it's a lavalier system like the G3 but operates on 2.4ghz and is a tidier setup. Rode mics/lavs are top quality.

3. Again, a Rode vote here - the NTG4 has just been released and is even better than the NTG3, rechargable batteries, low/hi cut filters.

5. Juicelink seems to be good - also give consideration to the Tascam D60 Mark II - although you'll need to keep a good supply of batteries with you. Sits under most DSLR's.

Rigs/cages - haven't gone that far yet, but avoid Filmcity (and all the other names it comes under) - I hired one with a cage type setup and it was flexing and flimsy.

Hope that helps :)
