The Nvidia question is still a question for sure. And yes using consumer parts you can build a fast system. That said building a PC with the same workstation class component and the price will jump to 10K, 20K, 30K easily. Just go play on HP's site.
Regardless of people's opinions on what's worth it price wise there's is absolutely zero argument that there's no professional option available from Apple now. If this is the computer for you then you already know it. This is for the people would spec out 10K workstations. Not for those that try and pretend a 3K Hackintosh is just as powerful or as good of an investment. It's not (spoken as someone that did it). Trying to compare consumer spec'd PC's to a Mac Pro that has macOS and Apple's ecosystem is laughable. It's like comparing oranges too... well... Apples.
I've built very powerful Hackintoshes and it's not worth it for longevity. Too much can and does go wrong during updates.
You just need to have Thunderbolt I'd assume.
Would love them to add a middle ground recording option. 6K up to 60 fps would be great. 8k in post production is great when you need it but it's a beast to work with.
