I've recently shot a music video and a short with the C500ii and it's amazing. The C70 is also an absolute gem of a camera, and in my opinion, is best in its class. Canon is finally coming around to the idea of making filmmakers happy.
Counter point. Stop romanticizing shitting behaviour.
... also... "The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open." Amazing low-budget 1-shot indie feature backed by Ava Duverney- now on Netflix.

Yeah, give the small screen option a try. Granted, the light leak thing is a bit of an issue. It's not a huge issue for me... Not ideal, but better than a monitor and hood option.
I shoot with the Blackmagic 4k cinema camera and the cross convert option on the 502 is just perfect. I almost went with the Gratical X (which wouldn't have the light leak problem.) But for features, price and versatility, it's the 502 all the way.
I've had the 502 and Sidefinder for about 2 months. Love them both. The Sidefinder works perfectly for me. I used to use a screen and hood setup and to me the Sidefinder is so much better. One thing about it, I slightly decreased the size of the screen when viewing through the side finder. I found the screen at 100% to be a bit much- perhaps this was what the review felt was "not right." I'd be curious to hear if decreasing the size of the screen changes anything for the reviewer.
PS is you go to search for "farmervision" on instagram, you can see my setup with the 502 and Sidefinder.
