In short, I'm married with 2 crazy boys, I write, shoot, direct, edit and dabble in color grading. I just want to have fun and make great projects!
I loved my T3i when I first started! A few suggestions. I found it to be amazing when paired with the Magic Lantern firmware. It gives you very useful features like histogram, focus peaking, crop mark overlays, audio meters and more. Second thing I purchased was the canon 50mm 1.8 (http://www.amazon.com/Canon-50mm-1-8-Camera-Lens/dp/B00007E7JU/ref=sr_1_...). Its about $125 and its amazing for the price. The second lens I bought was the Tamron 17-50 VC 2.8 (http://www.amazon.com/Tamron-17-50mm-Vibration-Compensation-Digital/dp/B...). This was a great zoom lens and very versatile. As far as NLE my suggestion would be FCPX. I love it! The program has great tools for editing, organizing, color grading and sharing. And its also $300 one time. Next would be to invest $150 in the Neat Video Plugin to clean up some of the footage if it gets a bit noisy. Have fun shooting brother!
