I've got to give Ted Sim a nod. His content referenced above and what's produced via the Aputure brand always seem to go beyond just being “how-to” content and really revel in the magic and skill of cinematography. Nice one.
I was always taught that doing comedy and telling a story are for the most part the same, but with comedy your final beat turns toward the absurd.
The production design on this really reminded me of the work of Jean Giraud (Moebius), particularly the chocolate segment.
It's easy to for me to be a backseat driver when I get to see a completed work, but I will say this: There is a limit to how far people will accept fantasy concepts in movies when they have no pre-exposure or relatable context to the universe. Even as a fantasy fan, I found the few trailers I saw to be conceptually abrupt without a great enough focus on an original human story to give the viewer something to grab on to. I think most general audiences will not be familiar with the original material so, as with any story, I think it's part of the job of the filmmakers to teach them. This trailer doesn't do that.
Its also worth noting this looks like a decent video game, but not enough original story a movie. At least that's what I get from the trailer.
I couldn't finish the video. The camera work was so distracting I couldn't focus on the content.
Don't complicate the debate with speculation. I do this professionally every day. In my market I have had ZERO REQUESTS FOR 8K... Let me say that again... ZERO REQUESTS. I don't of know of anyone, that has an 8K TV among my friends or clients. For context I will also say my clients include a number international corporations, for which we produce a variety of marketing and advertising video content. Of those maybe 10% ask if we are shooting 4K. I have NEVER been asked by a client to deliver content in anything above 2K. Even though I have the technical capacity to go higher, if I shoot anything more that UHD it's specifically to have the option to reframe shots in post, pull clean plates, or to extract stills. Those are the facts. Do what you will with them.
