An interesting perspective. My argument as a black independent filmmaker that has a movie I shot and edited on Amazon, is that there is a lot less opportunity for me at the big studio level. I personally like having an option like Netflix that is more accepting of diverse storytelling. I agree the theatre is the best place to experience a film but as an artist all I care about is getting my work out.
Hey just a heads up. I bought into this and I did love the experience BUT!!! This thing kept blowing out USB ports in my setup. I checked through some known issues and found that Pallette Gear is aware of this. They allegedly fixed it but I'm here to tell you nope, they did not. Everyone is entitled to be their own fool but don't do it!
Incredible work on that music video. Hat's off!
I agree Sean that comment is innacurate and damn near disrespectful. Not to mention this part: "And perhaps that's those are the biggest leaps forward that Panasonic has made with this camera: 4K slow motion and internal recording." First of all I know the site is No Film School but does that give a free pass to disregard grammar? Personally I think the brand new sensor, the move to 20+ megapixels, internal 10 bit 4:2:2, class leading IBIS, and 1080 slow motion up to 180 fps at a price point of $2K is pretty impressive. Oh and it's in the same size and form factor as the GH3 & GH4 so there's no need to go and replace your existing rig. But what do I know?
I think sometimes we forget that the job is to tell a story. We have all seen beautiful images married to a horrible plot.
I personally love what Panasonic is doing. I hope they take my $100 and use it towards developing more tools that enhance my ability to captivate an audience.
My small business utilizes the GH4 as it's workhorse and every month it pays for itself over and over again. With that being said I have seen some fantastic work shot on the T3i and other cheap DSLR's.
V Log won't make your images better, only you can do that. As a DP I choose to focus on the composition of the image and how to create movement that matches the mood of the piece.
If all you think about when you shoot is the limitations of your devices, I think your doomed from the start.
#my1stpost!
I think the consumer and their dollars are the people who have the right to make this decision.
