David Yao

Director of Photograhy / Camera Assistant

David Yao is a working cinematographer for short films and promotional films starting in 2011 in Vancouver, Canada.

Before become a cinematographer, he was involved in the visual art form as a painter for over 10 years since he was 11 years old. He attended Simon Fraser University to pursue the study in media and design.

In 2014, David graduated from Vancouver film school, specializing in cinematography. He has worked on over a dozen short films while in school and was responsible for 4 short films as a cinematographer. With backgrounds in painting and media, David has developed a unique eye that enhances his appreciation and sense for beauty in visual media format in story telling.
