So I figured out that it's a motorized tilt head. Now, my question is, which tilt head out there does this effect the best? Does anyone have experience with some out there? I'm not looking to purchase one. I can't really justify it. But I would certainly look into renting one.
Dang! Just when I thought that the ARRI kit would be the ideal kit. You make me reconsider. My biggest concern isn't if one is better than the other. Because I do plan to own both by the end of the year. However, from a business aspect, it isn't so practical for me to drop 4,000-5,000 in a month on lights.
On that note, I feel like the ARRI kit makes the most sense because they would be really versatile for music videos as well. The Kino FLO 4' is only one light, while the ARRI offers three that range in intensity.
It's certainly a tough choice and within the next 2 weeks i'll be making my purchase regardless!
To also answer your last question, I am now freelance filmmaker. I never planned to consider it a hobby. So going with the A7S 2 was really a hard choice because it was really what got my career going. Now I've been managing to make a decent income from music video and commercial work.
Hey Casey, sorry that I never got back to you. I failed to check this thread after posting it. Shame on me.
Anyways, I went with the A7S 2. An organization I work with and learned my film fundamentals had purchased a few of those cameras. And after being able to see the quality and just all of the other perks of the A7S 2. I had to go with it. It's been almost a year now, and I honestly do not regret the purchase. Yeah, the A7S 2 has it's quirks. But I'm certainly happy to have made this purchase.
It's been just about a year since I made this post. Didn't notice that I actually had people reply since I don't really see a notification system for NFS.
Anyways, I went with the A7S 2. So far, I've loved it. I've had the fortunate advantage of being able to use lights from an organization. I've done a lot of music video work, and have found that the A7S 2 just really topped all of the other choices. I didn't even consider RED camera because I didn't really feel like it was in my class just yet.
I will certainly look into the Raven based on your suggestion. At the moment, I don't feel like the A7S 2 is due for an upgrade for at least another year unless I have a really good reason to do so.
Just want to say thank you for your post. I will without a doubt look into the RAVEN because from what you said, it sounds like a great camera. Feel free to check out some of the stuff I've done here: vimeo.com/daymian
If you are comfortable with making that investment, then you should. It's hard to invest in pro gear at the hobby levels because prices can get very high quickly.
