Freddy Domini Alcantara was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. With both of his parents photographers, he was born with a special curiosity in the aesthetic of the image. Started interest in filmmaking at age of 16 when assigned to shoot a film for mother’s day celebration at high school, shot “Hands on Mother’s Day”. This short film was very well received by the audience encouraging him to pursue a career in film.
At a young age his work got him invited to workshops with the best of his country’s filmmakers, such as Robert Cornelio, Justo Cruz and Alberto Sayaz. Freddy continued his studies at New York Film Academy where he met Lukas Shepp with whom he photographed “Justice in D Minor,” a film that premiered at 2013 Cannes Film Festival. On June 2014 his work in "Harvard On Hudson" as a Director of Photography made in the top 6 finalist in a nationwide competition in Hollywood at the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) clubhouse, earning an Outstanding Cinematography Award. He recently worked on "Buscando al Zorro" as a DP, a feature film that promises to be a hit in the festival world.
