Not true at all: although WL did shoot shorts in the '50s in the UK as mentioned, his feature-filmography BEGUN in Greece through his collaborations with Michael Kakoyannis as narrated as well in the chapter "meanwhile in Athens" of his fine autobiography Itinerant cameraman; for the record, their 1st collaboration was The girl in black, shot in the island of Hydra in 1956: he shot five more features in Greece until 1961 (three for Kakoyannis/another three until 1967 including Zorba), before his collaborations with various directors around the world as mentioned above.
