Grew up filming skateboarding with my friends saw that I could turn this trait into a profession. I headed out to film school to learn the in and out of the film industry and graduate with a BA in film and video production.
Don't like that you can't change your field of view on the 4k options, your stuck with the wide. For aerial, I prefer using the medium option rather than wide. I don't think I will make the jump just yet. Especially with a $500 price tag, I rather go with an option like the GH4 for the lowest end of 4k aerial. But its still great to see the push forward on getting 4k into these tiny action cams.
Manual controls do exist in the protune settings in firmware 2.0 at least for the 3+ black, not sure about the other cameras.
Manual controls? The newest firmware 2.0 has manual controls, in the protune options. You can choose between new gopro color and flat options. Flat is good when you want to edit in post. Also, you are able to setup white balance, sharpness, ISO limits and exposure compensation. Looks to me that the only change is the 4k option, which is still great to see. But what are these other new manual controls going to do? Is it for when you are not in protune, maybe?
So this will work with any macbook. I have a mid 2010 macbook pro and I downloaded the mavericks cause of the air display with the apple TV. But then found out that it only worked with 2011 and older MacBooks. Anyone know is this app will work with older macs? I have a iPad 2 so I know that will work as the second display just like the video. Just not sure if you need that intel processor in order to do this. This would be great for traveling on event shoots and on the plane edits.
That LX100 looks like an awesome camera. Been waiting for something like this to come out. 4/3 sensor (which is awesome, puts it around with the BMPCC, GH4 and others), 4k video @ 30 and 24fps, (not just one frame rate, but two.) 1080 has that 60fps for a little slow-mo action (would of sold it for me 100% if it did 120fps @ 720), comes with manual controls, and I think the best feature is that built in lens. I can start using it straight out of the box. No need to have to go out and buy additional lens which can add up quick. Im a filmmaker that is ok with losing a few good features for others. I don't mind that built in lens, I prefer that cause I grew up filming on my VX2100 which has a built in lens. Give me an affordable tool that shoots clear video and doesn't require so many additional accessories to run it and ill let my creativity take care of the rest.
"without an FAA air-worthiness certificate" Not to sure what was meant to be said here, but from what I learned FAA says that you need to have a private pilots license in order to fly commercially.
I dont understand how the FAA can say that you can fly your aircraft with a camera on board in certain areas for your own personal use, but the moment you charge some one for that footage you can get into trouble. I believe that the FAA just wants a slice of that pie... don't you think? MONEY!!!
