Freddy Long
Writer-Director
Freddy Long is a writer-director based in South Florida. He seriously got into filmmaking in 2015 after composing the score for feature film, Tangled Web.
A cinema camera to me is a camera that’s able to record in true 24fps and not just 23.98fps, the ability to shoot 4096 x 2160 (DCI) and some form of log. Everything else is preferential. I love my GH5.
I watched the trailer and the cinematography is nice. It’s like Wally Pfister’s work with Christopher Nolan. Think Insomnia. I’d recommend a re-edit not the cuts but rebalance the exposures for each clip. I don’t have an issue with the trailer’s length itself but it’s dialogue-heavy and not a lot of special effects or expansive sequences so it would be beneficial to shorten it. Requesting a theater to screen it isn’t going to get it played in South Florida where I live. Got to contact the theaters yourself. Nice grind. I’m writing a cost-effective screenplay myself for my debut feature but I’m not sacrificing years to do it. Great work.
You dudes who commented without showing your work are crabs.
Check out my short film that is doing well on Prime Video, Out of Character, now.
Great interview.
I shot my latest and likely last short film, Out of Character https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZS56FJ3 , and I’m ready for debut feature. Thing is finding an interesting story that can be cheaply made. Cheaply is relative. Some of you invest thousands of dollars. I prefer a few hundred. My inspiration is Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathe and Christopher Nolan’s Following. I just have to write the script. Sigh
The dynamic range is limited according to them. I call BS but whatever. VLOG and VLOG-L are different. It says Netflix Original not that your film can get picked up or licensed by Netflix.
Actually, Django Unchained is QT’s most commercially successful movie.
This was so inspiring and in the vein I’m writing my debut feature film. A grounded sci-fi, espionage thriller. We live in a time where we can make quality films with a fraction of the price if one has tact and vision. Learning about the affordable vfx is dope and we all appreciate you sharing that game.
I like that you mentioned Inception and I will try to watch all the films you recommended, however, the thing I love about Chris Nolan is outside of his expansive set pieces and big locations; his films still have indie sensibilities. Even though your film is an indie, it reminds me of Nolan’s films. Shout out to your DP, Julie. She did a great job and shot a beautiful picture.
When it’s available on Prime Video, I will actually buy it.
