I like filming
Started as a child, grew older, discovered cameras.
After reading all this I can't help but think that what we are seeing here is a confusion between a given story and the telling of that story. The filmmaker's art is to tell a story in their own way with their own spin, color and point of view. When Scorsese talks about story what he actually describes is the telling of a story by a particular filmmaker in a particular film. He calls the telling of the story by that particular film, “The Story”. It’s not what we are usually taught to understand as the idea of story, but I wouldn’t expect a filmmaker to see it any other way. What delineates one filmmaker from another is not so much the stories they tell, but how they tell them. Their movie of a given story becomes the story as they tell it.
