Well then those distribution companies are dead. They're choosing regurgitated remakes and woke by-the-numbers propaganda over original, authentic stories. And they're trying to take all of us with them.
I thought Miami Vice (the TV series) was Mann's best work. Heat was overly long. I can definitely see how it influenced Nolan - stylized characters, big sets, mostly shots conveying power. But as far as storytelling, Miami Vice was much more interesting. Watching two good cops slowly slide into despair while fighting evil - and doing so with a sense of humor and conviction regardless - was much more fulfilling. And that 80s soundtrack...Moby's theme for Heat can't compete with that.
It's called woke. If YouTube, ChatGPT, and Google won't let you ask about it, just walk into any gym, martial arts studio, church, firing range, trades-based worksite, finance company, Jewish temple, video game store, Mosque, or other institution that values results above feelings, and they'll tell you about it.
I think all gay characters should be given halos so we know who's an angel
Thanks for mentioning the Xl1. Gives me hope that not every great shot has to be taken on an Arri Alexa.
