Thats right you tell 'em Lee! Cain't tell Lee what to do! You hear that you pandering pussies and chinese commies, we only make movies with 'Merican propaganda goddammitt! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! 'MERICA's #1! Woooooo!!!
You're a moron if you think that a thoughtful assessment of whats going on in the industry, based on factual statistics and a history of the same behaviour towards marginalized groups is a "hit piece" by "stooped down political columnists".
You're a douchbag Aaron Harper.
Agreed, its not always just the directors male gaze, but the studios "requirements" for the audiences' male gaze, so its ultimately the same shit no matter where it comes from. But yeah, its terrible when a person has to oblige to shit they're not comfortable doing just so they can work... just like the women that did nude/sex scenes they didn't want to just to keep working in this industry.
Clearly that video was made by a filmbro. See, while I agree with his view that we shouldn't disparage the movies themselves, I completely disagree with his overall argument that filmbros don't have any power and therefore are harmless. Those filmbros are the ones that (especially if white) end up in power. I do think the article he's responding too might be a little too "dramatic" in its view of the filmbro, but it's not wrong for the most part. Really, in my opinion, the point is that the filmbro is not always just about the movies/tv shows (yep tv too!) they watch, but the toxic behavior, or "elitism" that comes from them in thinking that they're connoisseurs when they're actually not. And even worse, when these filmbros idolize these male protagonists and completely miss the point that they're flawed humans, mostly displayed as cautionary tales of what not to do rather than role models to look up and emulate. Also to the snowflakes reading my comment and want to reply with "wHy bRiNg rAcE iNtO tHiS?!, well my precious little snowflakes, its because white supremacy is a real thing and toxic masculinity go hand in hand with it. And if you need proof, well, you clearly have access to the internet so go ahead see for yourself :)
Found the filmbro!
