Janmejay Singh

Director

I love cinema. Every little bit of it. The first idea to the song echoing in my head 50 years later (yes that's you Mr Raj Kapoor, Awaara hoon). And now looking to find my place in this super-galaxy of stories :)

My Work -
A graduate from Prague Film School, I have directed and worked in over 30 short films. I have also directed documentaries, music videos and assisted in feature films in India (Aarakshan & Maximum amongst others). I also launched Vaidehi Arts, a production house and produced documentaries, shorts, corporate films and international music videos. I recently edited promos for fashion designer Osmany Laffita and a music video for the band Eurasia.

Article Comment – How Do You Choose a Budget Anamorphic Lens or Adapter?

Thanks Tito! The images from the Great Joy look really pleasing to me. Do you think it’s possible to add an flare filter on top of the lens to get extra flares in the time one occasionally wants them? Or would that not look as authentic?

Article Comment – Rumors Suggest the iPhone 12 Will be a Movie Camera in Your Pocket

No, nofilmschool. Not such a horribly clickbaity article.

"-- Sent using iPhone 11 Pro with 3 cameras and 4K 60p / HD 240P video" ;)

Article Comment – What Do You Want No Film School to Test on the Canon R5?

It would be great if you could do a one day shoot, with perhaps two actors and scenes indoors and outdoors... with natural lighting + manipulated (studio?) lighting... basically run it through the paces on an actual day of shoot, and test out both the shoot experiences (dynamic range, rolling shutter, set up time, accessories needed etc etc) and the post production workflow with the footage. Ideally a mix of 4K 24, 4K 60, 4K 120 and 8K RAW footage, as the story may demand.

Anyone here knows if the camera would also have an active EF-S mount support?

Article Comment – The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Has Landed

Umm... Seeing as how they have a 4K MFT cam, 6K EF Super 35 cam, I'm pretty sure the next upgrade for Ursa is going to be a full frame.. Also to put a full frame sensor in a camera this small will have severe heating issue implications. Personally, I'd rather request them to stick with an Ursa sized body for a full frame RAW shooting camera, as of now.

Article Comment – The New, Completely Redesigned Mac Pro Has Landed

This is the first new Gen Mac Pro. For offline work, it's overkill. I work off my 15" MacBook pro with a monitor attached. It's enough. Never a lag.

This beast, however, would make it insanely easy to edit RAW footage off RAID setups. You can practically finish smaller films right on this system. And with native integration, you get reliability. Lots of people complaining about the price here. I agree with them that this is very expensive. But more importantly, you can probably get your work done with a 1500 usd system. If it's too expensive, probably not for your workflow?
