Jason Hellerman graduated from Penn State University in Film Production & English and holds an MFA in Screenwriting & Film Theory from Boston University. Jason has worked as a Story Editor for several A-list clients and continues to do story consulting.

In 2013, his screenplay, Shovel Buddies, made the top ten of the annual Black List. Shovel Buddies was purchased and produced by AwesomenessTV and debuted at the SXSW film festival in 2016.

Outside of Hollywood, Jason has collaborated on commercials for Nintendo, Ford, Universal, and SyFy.

Jason is constantly writing and developing new ideas for companies across the globe.

Great point! I wondered that myself - did I pay for accolades that got me close, therefore much more incentivized to spend more to see if I got over the hump on the next draft. I guess that's part of the inherent risk as well.

Notes are either/or - though again bc it's one person you might be able to negotiate - I was able to take pretty good notes and I bet you could record the session if need be as well

Hey - - how would you suggest writers without friends to read their scripts or industry access go about improving their skills aside from writing more? Just reading? I get that the payment is hard and a bitter pill but this is what thousands of people are doing to learn and get ahead, we have to acknowledge that and figure out what's worth time and money.
